Today I have a guest article and video for you from my friend Kate Vidulich.
Now I will make a true confession to you. Up until a couple of years ago, I was including some hi-rep crunch and leg raise variations – as Kate describes below – in my own personal workouts and with my training clients.
I had done it this way for years, my clients liked the “ab burn”, and it was just what I knew how to do and felt comfortable with.
More and more research and more and more experts saying NOT to do crunches or leg raises or sit ups etc at ALL eventually made me move away from them entirely. And MAN am I glad I did … because I realized that training your abs the way Kate describes in the article below is not only BETTER for your back, it is more effective for getting that flat stomach you are after.
Your #1 Ab workout mistake (and the 9 min solution)
by Kate Vidulich, author, Ab Accelerators
Everyone wants abs, right?
It doesn’t matter if you’re a man, woman, young or old. You might be an athlete, or just someone who wants to look awesome at the beach.
Despite living in New York City, a hot bed for personal trainers, boutique fitness studios, and big box gyms, I still see misinformed trainers taking their clients through boring, outdated workouts that will NEVER deliver sexy, six-pack abs.
But the number one ab workout mistake, you could be making, will surprise you. The reason people FAIL is that they focus on the wrong elements of abdominal training.
Your #1 Ab Workout Mistake:
You train for Endurance NOT Strength
You’ve seen the image of a sprinter vs. marathoner. And honestly, I don’t know anyone who’s dream body reflects the scrawny, gaunt marathoner.
But most people are training their abs like a marathoner – without even realizing it. They are doing hundreds, if not thousands of reps of the same ab exercises like crunches and sit-ups, plus long cardio workouts.
These exercises are great for muscular endurance, NOT for building muscle strength. Just like other muscles in your body, you need to focus on building strong abdominals.
So instead of doing more reps in your workouts, you need to progress the exercise to challenge yourself. For example, once you master lying leg raises, try doing a Hanging Knee Raises, Ab Wheel Rollouts or another unique variation.
Now it’s time to step it up a level, and get visibly, defined abs with the Ab Accelerators System.
Hang on, what is an Ab Accelerator?
When you combine the BEST ab exercises in a circuit, with brief yet strategic rest periods, you’ll not only get a stronger core but you’ll burn a ton of calories (AND have fun while doing it).
The Ab Accelerator program is a fat loss AND ab development program that delivers FAST results. And using the proven Ab Accelerators System, you can burn off as much as 15 pounds of stubborn fat in just 21 days!
Seeing as you rock, today I’ll share with you a special Ab Accelerator workout you can try.
Warning: this is not for beginners. But if you’re looking for rapid fat loss and willing to take on this extreme challenge, you will see fast, sexy results.
Review the workout first, then watch the video to see how to do each exercise correctly.
9 minute Ab Accelerator Workout
Perform exercises in supersets. For example, do exercise A then B then C with
no rest, then break for 30-45s.
A: Bird/Dog Plank x 8 reps each side
– No rest
B: Side Plank w Reach and Raise x 10 reps
– No rest
C: Body Saw x 10 reps
– Rest for 30 seconds at the end of the circuit and repeat 2 more times for a total of 3 rounds
See, it’s a fun challenge that will take you less than 9 minutes.
Metabolic workouts, just like this one, target your abs and skyrocket the afterburn effect to significantly higher levels than boring cardio.
You burn more calories after your workout while you chill out and drink coffee.
My Ab Accelerators System will attack the fat, strengthen your core, and destroy your love handles at the SAME TIME! Plus, you’ll have a blast and destroy workout boredom forever.
Plug these workouts into your routine today and take your abs to the next level, in half the training time.
