Man it has been a CRAZY last few weeks. We’ve had a ton of stuff going at the FVT studio AND two new products released online in the last month.
Now it’s settling down for just a bit before the Holiday season gets going. So I am just trying to relax and enjoy for a few …
When times get crazy it makes me think back to a few years ago, when my schedule was as busy as it has EVER been … late 2008.
I was trying to get my independent training business off the ground … I was also working at a big box gym at the same time until I could afford to make the leap to being 100% self-employed … I had just got married … we also had just purchased our first home and moved to a new neighbourhod a few months prior … looking back it was pretty insane I was literally working 70-80 hours per week for a two to three month period.
And my personal workouts were suffering a bit, I am not going to lie.
The deal was I always had at least an hour every day to do my training up to this point. But my time available to train during this particular time was MAYBE 30 minutes per day (if that).
Enter Craig Ballantyne and Turbulence Training.
Craig, if you’re not familiar, has been a prominent figure in the fitness “world” for over 10 years. He’s written for Men’s Health and almost every fitness magazine you can think of. He’s helped – literally – tens of thousands of men and women of all fitness levels get in amazing shape with his training programs and transformation contests.
So I somehow stumbled across his Turbulence Training program. I had actually never purchased a product like this online before, but it looked really cool and just along the lines of what I was looking for – fast, efficient, fat-burning sessions without the boring cardio. A very different training style that was I was accustomed to in my pro athlete days.
I took a leap of faith and purchased a copy for I think it was $39.95. It seemed like a significant amount at the time for a digitally-delivered product. (I purchase so much stuff online these days it’s embarrassing … but that’s a story for another day … )
Moral of the story is that it was SO worth it. Quite honestly that program totally changed my training style. The way the workouts were set up – almost ALL superset or circuit-style … the way the interval cardio training was set to be short and intense … exactly what I was looking for.
I actually went through the full 24 week-or-whatever-it-was Original Turbulence Training program myself. Got some great results, DECREASED the time I worked out each day by about half, lost 3% body fat, gained few pounds of lean muscle, and a lot more actually.
Shortly after I discovered the power of kettlebells, too … and a lot of the elements of my program design today pull from many different influences … but without a doubt Craig has had a huge impact on my training style. I incorporate elements of his programming into my own workouts and those of my clients on a daily basis.
Craig has also become a mentor of mine today and helps me personally with putting my programs together, reaching more people with my message (like YOU right now … and much more.
But let me bring this back full circle and get to the point:
1 – Craig’s work has been a huge influence on my training methods
2 – His workouts focus on minimal-equipment, fast and efficient, “no-more-boring cardio” methods to get you where you want to go
3 – If you’re looking for a solid program to follow, you can trust that his stuff is legit
So, with all that said – I come with a cool announcement. Craig has now released a NEW version of his original Turbulence Training program for 2013 … it’s video-based this time, and to be honest, it’s a big improvement on the original.
I thought the 1st program rocked, but I think this new one is WAY more friendly for the end-user. Particularly if you are a fan of follow-along video programs.
Turbulence Training 2.0 is on sale for a short period of time, but you have to act now if you want to get the best deal on it. (Craig had dropped the price by more than 50% last time I checked.)
I hope you enjoy the workouts – let me know how they work out for you.
Train hard, and talk soon –
